Former Assemblyman Arthur Eve: "80% of the money played in the lottery comes from people who more than likely did not complete high school and whose average income is around 10,000 to 12,000 a year. Buffalo is the poorest city [of its size] in America."

Brian Lampkin and Melissa Maiola, of "Royal Flush" casino, presented The William Bennett One-Armed Bandit Award for Moral Hypocrisy. The award went in absentia to the "Ghandi-like" Carl Paladino, "whose notable lack of self-interest in the casino-project makes him a near-saint in the city."

Jean Dixon and Gary Stevens perform songs with anti-casino lyrics, "I'll be damned if I'll surrender, to a gang of gambling thugs."

Ellen Kennedy: "In communities that have casinos there is a net loss of jobs. Atlantic City lost hundreds of businesses after the casinos went in. And there's absolutely no social argument: We all know about bankruptcy, addictions, crime...It's time for all the elected officials to listen to the people."
